I spent a few hours yesterday writing a proposal for a potential new client. I did some research. I figured out pricing based on my time tracking of previous projects and the brief from the potential client. I looked at the potential client’s current materials and thought about how possibilities for a redesign. I wrote and rewrote. I designed and redesigned.
I spell checked. I proofread. I checked that links worked properly. I checked for extra spaces. And then I reread and rechecked this morning.
I had someone else read the proposal.
I reread and rechecked again.
Then I hit send.
Oops. I looked again and there they were, as obvious as a big squashed bug on a windshield: a comma which was bold when it shouldn’t be, and inconsistent formatting of phone numbers for my references (123-456-7890 vs 123.456.7890).
Sigh.
Got any good ‘oops’ stories? Maybe you can cheer me up.
