Let me know if this happens to you. You’re working away, diligently designing or writing. “Oh,” you think, “I’ll pop onto the internet to look up this very important fact.” A half hour later you quit your web browser only to realize that you spent 30 minutes browsing Facebook (or whatever site you like so much you made it your browser homepage) and then forgot to look up the important fact at all. No? Well, it happens to me. Often enough that I made up a word for the phenomenon.
fbucked [fuh-bukt]
To be distracted by Facebook at the expense of real life. I opened my web browser to look something up for work, but then I was fbucked and quit the browser 10 minutes later without ever doing the work.
Want to avoid being fbucked? Do as I say, not as I do*, and change your browser homepage to something that won’t suck you in.
*Ok ok, I’m going to change mine to “blank” right now.
What’s your biggest online time suck?
